October – February 2016

November had the club back at one of our usual & enjoyable autocross venue Hawea, with the odd tweak to the track layout, challenging the drivers and cars again.

In December club ventured down to Invercargill for our track day at Teretonga, and in true Southland fashion the weather played its part in the days racing with some wet track laps and some dry track laps, making tyre choice very interesting

No events in January as we all recovered from Christmas and New year, as well our focus was on organising the 2016 Cromwell Street Sprints (see website) in February, and in true Central Otago fashion the day was perfect for what was a great event with 53 drivers, trying to beat Glen Frew from his unbeaten 3 years overall running winner of the event……………the streak continues, Congrats to Glen for taking it for a 4th year, your car is very quick.

June to September 2015

In June the club had it’s 3rd annual general meeting, with the same committee being re-elected. An autocross happened that following weekend at Springvale Quarry, to start off the new season.

July saw the annual COMC prize giving at the Nose Restaurant, with great prizes awarded to the members who had achieved the most points in their class throughout the race year, congratulations to those who received a prize.IMG_1056a

August had a new autocross site at Golden Road, it was a great day with a wide selection of vehicles testing their skills in a flat grass paddock.

In September the Club ran its first gravel event in sometime, with the Little Valley Gravel Bent Sprint. Everyone enjoyed the new event with the hope to make it an annual event. It was also  the first outing for the club caravan, working perfectly as the for timing and documentation.

April & May 2015

On the 12 of April the clubs was back at the always popular Hawea Autocross site, it was a miserable start to the weather, but that didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of the competitors and as the day progressed the both the weather and fun got better and better.

We were lucky enough, on 22 April, to use Highlands Track C, due to it being it weekday event is was decided to be a non points event, but that didn’t stop competitors pushing their hardest to get the most out of their cars (and some pushing too far). It was a great day, with some competitors able to get 5th and 6th runs (unofficial times).

On 2nd May, we headed off to Levels Raceway for our Track Sprint for our last event of the Calendar , we trialled transponders at this event which made timing and getting results much simpler and enable again 5 and 6 runs for the day. Some where there to secure the position on the championship ladder and others were there for to learn, it was another spectacular day.

March 2015

We held an autocross at Springvale on 8 March 2015, which a saw a good field turn up for a challenging event. It was hard fought with 0.29 sec covering the top four drivers!!

February 2015

Wow, what a fantastic day the 2015 Cromwell Street Sprints turned out to be, thanks to some great organising and committed competitors, we were able to run a 4th “un-official” round, after completing the three official timed rounds and the top ten shot-out.

Congratulations to Glen Frew for taking out the title for a third year running and thanks heaps to all the locals that helped support this great event, and business that sponsored the event, very much appreciated (also thanks to the Street Sprint Organising Committee for their huge efforts to run this event)

Check out the Street Sprints Page for the results & Sponsors and the gallery for pictures and videos .

October – January 2015

October 2014 to January 2015

In October we were scheduled to have our track event at Highlands Motorsport Park, but unfortunately due to matter outside Highlands and our control this was not able to go ahead. So we had a rest month.

For November we held an autocross at the popular Hawea Quarry, which again didn’t fail to impress, with everyone having a great fun in the open fast track.

December saw the club head to Invercargill for track sprints, with some previously unseen cars showing up for the event, all adding to the competitive fun day .

During January the club will be focusing on our major event for the calendar, the 2015 Cromwell Street Sprints, click here to see more details

September 2014

We started the month off with a Autocross at Springvale, it was a gorgeous spring day, and after a gap in the calendar people were rearing to go. The times improved throughout the day, with competition getting very tight at the top end and some friendly rivalry ensuing.

As we did last year we are also entering the Blossom Festival Grand Procession Parade on 27th September, as well as a COMC display in the Pioneer park. Thanks to help from Jo at the CODC/Young Driver of the year.

August 2014

August was a quite month for the Club, due to the Highlands event late in July there were no scheduled events for August, this has given us all time to sort out performance and maintenance issues and be all ready for our next event.

July 2014

On 6th July the club saw the introduction of a new autocross venue at Hawea in an open flat gravel pit (thanks to those who sorted out this venue), it was a great to learn to control the cars in the long slide round the corners, everyone had a great deal of fun (see gallery).

On 26th July COMC had a big day with racing at Track C at Highlands, we saw some amazing new cars not seen at previous events (Radical SR3 and Lotus 7). Another popular event run by the club saw a big turn out of 45 drivers for this event (some entrants travelling from Oz, just for the event). Thanks to Dave and Co for a very well run event, we were able to get 5 runs in for the day.

Later that night we held our annual prize giving at the Nose Restaurant, after a wonderful Meal and drinks the following awards were giving (along with other prizes; See Gallery):
