May 2014

At the start of the month we had a Track day at Levels Raceway near Timaru. It was great day both the weather and the racing. (See gallery for photos and videos).

It was the last event on the race calendar to gain points for the club competition and some were racing to make it further up the leader board, others were just racing for the fun. It was a great day, enjoyed by everyone.

We have our AGM and prize giving coming up, all are welcome.

April 2014

With the unfortunate cancellation of the Hawkesburn Gravel Event, we were very lucky (on short notice) to organise a Tarseal Motorkhana at Highlands Motorsport pits. This was a great event, with skill and speed being combined to see who could make it around the cone circuit without time penalties (See gallery for pictures and videos), it was an event that could be (and in some cases was) done in the family car.

Over the Easter Weekend there was the Highlands Festival of Speed event, which some of our members volunteered for, adding to our skill base (and the best viewing), as well a number of a members entered the Highlands Fling (with COMC member Paul Bettie claiming 3rd place).

March 2014

This month has been a slightly quieter month for the Club, after the hectic pace of February, which had the organising and running of the Cromwell Street Sprints.

On 23rd March we held an Autocross at Springvale, see Gallery for video clips of a couple of runs, As we did last year, we are also helping with volunteers at the CODC Young Driver of the year (see facebook link and CODC Link) on 26th March and 30th March.

February 2014

It was a busy month as the clubs big event of the year the Cromwell Street Sprints was held on 23rd February, there was a lot of organising and planning by the dedicated Street Sprint committee (huge thanks to Gary, Paul, Corey, Flip and others). Hopefully you may have noticed the articles about the street sprints in the Noticeboard, The CO News and the ODT etc. It was a great event, see you next year!!

As well we held a Hill cross (or is that an auto climb – a combined Hill climb/Autocross) at Springvale on 2nd Feb, everyone who went enjoyed the event, as well as  a great after event social BBQ.

January 2014

Another exciting month for Cromwell with the V8’s coming to Highlands. COMC are involved in providing volunteers around the track and looking forward to a great day.

No monthly meeting in January and we have had 1 new member join this month.

It is a busy month for the organising committee of the COMC Cromwell Street Sprint which takes place in the industrial area of Cromwell on 23rd February.
